Captain Ali'iloa

Captain Ali'iloa (The Everlasting Chief) was born in Hilo and raised in Kailua Kona. The Big Island has always been his home.

He is a Native Hawaiian who grew up surfing, fishing and free diving along the Kona Coast.  Being on, in and around the open ocean has always been his passion.

Ali'iloa graduated from Kealakehe High School in 2009.  When he was just 21 years old, he earned his 100GT Masters Captains license.  He then went on to earn his Submarine Pilots license.  After spending 5 years as a submarine pilot and working at depths of 100ft it was time for a new adventure.

Ali'iloa is a family man with a beautiful wife and two children.  The family spent time traveling across the United States from Virginia to California on a cross country road trip where they visited National Parks; taking in all the natural beauty that this world has to offer us.

One of Ali'iloa's most memorable trips was when he visited Barrow, Alaska.  He spent time there learning about the Inupiat culture and traditions.  After learning about their values, he felt that they are similar to that of the Hawaiian culture.

In the Hawaiian culture we feel that it is our kuleana (responsibility) to malama (take care) of the land and the sea as it will provide sustenance for generations to come.

Ali'iloa is PADI Open Water Certified as well as CPR/First Aid Certified.  He takes great pride in his work and hopes you will join Hawaii Oceanic for a wonderful ocean experience.
